Which data and tax rules apply in Spain?

Data protection is supervised by the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD), under GDPR + Organic Law 3/2018 on Personal Data Protection and Guarantee of Digital Rights (LOPDGDD). Shops include VAT in consumer prices: the standard rate is 21%, and reduced rates apply to some goods (10% (super-reduced 4%)).

The Canary Islands apply IGIC instead of VAT. Catalonia (APDCAT) and the Basque Country (AVPD) have regional data protection authorities. CNMC counted 19.54 million fixed broadband lines in December 2025, 17.8 million of them FTTH.

This is not legal advice. Our GDPR checklist covers data collection through proxies.
