Proxy ASN targeting in Europe

How to keep your exit IP on one broadband network, which numbers the large European operators use, and why a narrow filter can leave you with no IP.

Last updated: · 4 min read

Quick answer

How do I keep a residential proxy on one European network?

Add -asn-<number> to your username, after the country and the optional city: USERNAME-country-fr-city-lyon-asn-3215. With EuroCity Proxies, ASN targeting is included at no extra cost on every plan, from $0.95 for 1 GB as of October 2026. Fewer IPs match a network filter, so availability varies more than for a city alone.

What is an ASN, and why target one?

An autonomous system number (ASN) identifies a network that announces its own IP ranges on the internet. Each large broadband operator has one or more. Regional internet registries assign them; in Europe that is the RIPE NCC.

Targeting an ASN keeps your exit on one operator. That helps when a site behaves differently by network, or when you test how your own service treats customers of one ISP. For most location checks, the city alone is enough.

ASN targeting combines with the city parameter described in residential proxy with city targeting and with sticky sessions; every option is listed in proxy geo-targeting in Europe. Check the result with the proxy city checker.

Which ASNs do large European broadband operators use?

Holder names as shown by RIPEstat on 18 October 2026. An operator can use several ASNs, for example after a merger; these are the main fixed-line ones. This table describes the market: it does not list the networks our pool uses at a given moment. Check the ASN of your own exit IP after purchase.

How do I find the ASN of a network myself?

Look up a known IP of that operator, or the operator name, on RIPEstat. The "AS overview" widget shows the holder name, and "Announced prefixes" shows the address ranges.

To read the ASN of your current exit, call an IP lookup through the proxy. ipinfo.io/json returns an org field such as AS3320 Deutsche Telekom AG. The verification guide shows the full check.

Why can an ASN filter return no IP?

A city plus an ASN is the narrowest request the gateway accepts. Smaller operators, regional cable networks and municipal fibre networks may have no device online in that city at that moment. City availability varies; the checkout shows what is online. No IP count is published.

Start with the city alone, read the ASNs you get, then add the one you need. Mobile operators use separate ASNs for their mobile networks; those do not belong in a residential request.

ASN targeting: FAQ

Does ASN targeting cost extra?

No. Country and city targeting on every plan; in the United States also state and ZIP code; ASN targeting at no extra cost. City availability varies. The price per GB is the same with or without the -asn- parameter.

Can I target an ISP by name instead of by number?

No. The gateway expects the number, because one company can run several networks and brand names change after mergers. The table above lists 20 verified numbers.

Is ASN targeting the same as an ISP or static residential proxy?

No. An ISP proxy usually means a fixed IP hosted in a data centre and registered to an ISP. Here the IP stays residential and rotating; the ASN only filters which home networks it comes from.

Can I combine an ASN with a sticky session?

Yes: USERNAME-country-de-city-berlin-asn-3320-session-b1-ttl-10. The session keeps the same IP for up to 30 minutes (the IP can change earlier, for example if the residential device goes offline).
