City targeting
City names, accents, compound names, and what to do when a city has no IP online.
Username parameters · 103 documented cities
Everything is set in the proxy username: country, then city, then network, then session. No dashboard toggle, no surcharge for finer targeting.
Quick answer
How do I set the country, city and network of a EuroCity Proxies IP?
With EuroCity Proxies, you add parameters to your proxy username in a fixed order: -country-de, then -city-munich, then -asn-3320, then -session-a1-ttl-10. Only the country is required. As of October 2026, city and ASN targeting cost nothing extra on every plan, from $0.95 for 1 GB. City availability varies.
The full pattern is USERNAME-country-{cc}-city-{city}-asn-{asn}-session-{id}-ttl-{minutes}. Leave out any part you do not need, but keep the order.
| Parameter | Example | What it does | Required |
|---|---|---|---|
country-{cc} | -country-fr | Two-letter ISO code, lower case. Picks the country of the exit IP. | Yes |
city-{city} | -city-lyon | English city name, lower case, no accents, _ for spaces. Narrows the pool to one city. | No |
asn-{asn} | -asn-3215 | Autonomous system number of one network. Keeps the exit on that network. | No |
session-{id} | -session-lyon1 | Your own label of letters and digits. Keeps the same IP while the session lives. | No |
ttl-{minutes} | -ttl-10 | Session length in minutes, up to 30. Use it with a session ID. | No |
Each filter makes the matching pool smaller. A country alone gives the widest choice, a city narrows it, and a city plus an ASN narrows it again.
City availability varies; the checkout shows what is online. No IP count is published. If no IP matches, the connection fails or the gateway falls back to a wider match, so read the exit location with an IP lookup before you rely on it. The verification guide explains how.
No. In Europe the finest level is the city. Country and city targeting on every plan; in the United States also state and ZIP code; ASN targeting at no extra cost. City availability varies. There is no region, postcode or street-level parameter for European exits.
For a postcode-level check, many shop and delivery sites let you type a postcode on the page itself. Combine that with an IP in the right city.

Keep the exit on one European network, with verified ASNs of 20 large operators.
Keep one city IP for up to 30 minutes and rotate inside the same city.
Check where an IP geolocates with two databases and RIPEstat.
Lower case in the username: -country-de, -country-pl. The API catalogue uses upper case in its paths (GET /v1/catalog/countries/DE/cities). Both refer to the same ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code. Terms such as ASN and ISO code are defined in the glossary.
No. Country, city and ASN targeting are included on every plan at the same price per GB. On 18 October 2026, one provider we checked billed city traffic at double its standard rate; see the surcharge comparison.
No. One username targets one city. Open a second connection with another username to work in two cities side by side.
No. A session keeps its IP and therefore its city. Use a new session ID with the new city to switch.
