Before a regional release, check that your own app and site behave as planned in each city: language, currency, consent banner, store picker, delivery area and legal notices.

**Quick answer — How do I test my app or website as a user in a specific European city?**

Route your test browser, emulator or script through a residential IP in that city and check what your own service returns. With **EuroCity Proxies**, add `-country-be-city-ghent` (for example) to the proxy username; city targeting is included on every plan, from $0.95 for 1 GB as of October 2026, with no KYC.

## What should a city test cover?

- **Language and locale.** Brussels serves French and Dutch speakers, Helsinki Finnish and Swedish speakers, Barcelona Catalan and Spanish speakers. Check the default your service picks from the IP and the browser.
- **Currency and prices.** Euro (Bulgaria since 1 January 2026), złoty, koruna, forint, Romanian and Moldovan leu, Swedish and Icelandic krona, Danish and Norwegian krone, Swiss franc, hryvnia, dinar, denar, lek and convertible mark: confirm the right one and the right VAT in the total.
- **Consent banners.** Banners and their wording can change by country under the GDPR and national rules.
- **City logic.** Store pickers, delivery areas, local landing pages and redirects keyed to the visitor's city.
- **Legal notices.** Country-specific terms, imprint pages and age gates.

## How do I set it up on phones and emulators?

On an iPhone or iPad, Wi-Fi → Configure Proxy → Manual, with authentication; on the Android emulator, start it with `-http-proxy http://USERNAME-country-at-city-graz:PASSWORD@gw.eurocityproxies.com:7777`. Android's Wi-Fi proxy setting has no password field, and some apps ignore the system proxy.

For browsers, use port 7777: Chrome and Firefox do not send a password to a SOCKS5 proxy. For scripts, the [quickstart](https://eurocityproxies.com/guides/quickstart/) has curl, Python and Node.js examples.

## Which session mode suits a test run?

A multi-step test of your own app should stay on one IP: use `-session-<id>-ttl-<minutes>`. up to 30 minutes (the IP can change earlier).

Sites also read DNS, time zone, language and cookies; set them to match the market you are checking. With SOCKS5, use `socks5h` in curl so the proxy resolves the hostname, not your machine.

## What should I log during a test?

Log the exit IP, its city and ASN from an IP lookup, the test time with time zone, and the response of your service. If a result looks wrong, check the exit first: a suburb label in a geolocation database is a common cause. The [verification guide](https://eurocityproxies.com/guides/verify-exit-city/) shows how.

Test only services you own or are authorised to test.

## Geo-testing: FAQ

### Can I test location-based features that use GPS?

No. A proxy changes the network location only. GPS-based features read the device location; use your emulator's location settings for those, and the proxy for IP-based logic.

### Can a team share one account for testing?

Yes: Sub-users with their own credentials and traffic cap, one per client or project. Give each tester or project its own credentials.

### Can I allowlist my CI server instead of using a password?

Yes. Username and password on every plan, or an IP allowlist (up to 10 IPs). Sub-users with their own credentials and traffic cap. API keys you can revoke at any time.

### Which cities should a European release test cover?

At least one city per language and currency you support. The [country pages](https://eurocityproxies.com/countries/) list the languages, currencies and documented cities of each country.
