Everything you need to connect: the host, the two ports, how the username carries country, city, network and session, and where the account API is documented.

**Quick answer — How do I connect to the EuroCity Proxies gateway?**

Connect to `gw.eurocityproxies.com` on port 7777 for HTTP and HTTPS, or port 7778 for SOCKS5, with the credentials shown in your dashboard. Put the targeting in the username, for example `USERNAME-country-es-city-seville`. **EuroCity Proxies** documents 103 European cities as of October 2026.

## Connection settings

| Attribute | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Host | `gw.eurocityproxies.com` |
| HTTP / HTTPS port | `7777` (HTTPS through CONNECT) |
| SOCKS5 port | `7778` |
| Username pattern | `USERNAME-country-{cc}-city-{city}-asn-{asn}-session-{id}-ttl-{minutes}` |
| Password | Your proxy password from the dashboard |
| Other authentication | Username and password on every plan, or an IP allowlist (up to 10 IPs). Sub-users with their own credentials and traffic cap. API keys you can revoke at any time |
| Rotation | Each new connection gets an IP from the pool, usually a different one; to get a new IP on every request, send one request per connection (turn off keep-alive) |
| Sticky sessions | up to 30 minutes (the IP can change earlier) |
| Blocked | Banking, government and payment-portal sites, plus SMTP (email-sending) ports 25, 465 and 587 |

## How is the username built?

Start from the username shown in your dashboard, then append parameters in this order. Only the country is required.

1. `-country-{cc}`: two-letter ISO code in lower case (`de`, `fr`, `pl`).
2. `-city-{city}`: English city name, lower case, no accents, `_` for spaces (`the_hague`).
3. `-asn-{asn}`: number of one network (`3320`).
4. `-session-{id}`: your label, letters and digits only.
5. `-ttl-{minutes}`: session length, up to 30.

The [targeting overview](https://eurocityproxies.com/targeting/) explains each part, and each [city page](https://eurocityproxies.com/cities/) prints its exact value.

Parameter details: [proxy geo-targeting in Europe](https://eurocityproxies.com/targeting/), [city targeting](https://eurocityproxies.com/targeting/city/) and the [glossary](https://eurocityproxies.com/glossary/). Service health is on the [status page](https://eurocityproxies.com/status/); start with the [guides](https://eurocityproxies.com/guides/) if this is your first connection.

*Three common connections*

```bash
# Rotating IP in Seville, HTTP port
curl -x http://USERNAME-country-es-city-seville:PASSWORD@gw.eurocityproxies.com:7777 https://api.ipify.org
# Sticky IP in Vienna for 10 minutes
curl -x http://USERNAME-country-at-city-vienna-session-v1-ttl-10:PASSWORD@gw.eurocityproxies.com:7777 https://ipinfo.io/json
# SOCKS5 in Warsaw; socks5h lets the proxy resolve the hostname
curl -x socks5h://USERNAME-country-pl-city-warsaw:PASSWORD@gw.eurocityproxies.com:7778 https://ipinfo.io/json
```

## What do common errors mean?

- **407 Proxy Authentication Required:** the username or password is wrong, or a parameter is misspelled. Check the city value against its page.
- **Connection refused or timeout on a city request:** no matching IP may be online. City availability varies; the checkout shows what is online. No IP count is published. Retry later or widen to the country.
- **403 from the target site:** the site refused the request. A residential IP does not make a refused access permitted; check the site's terms.
- **Blocked target:** banking, government and payment-portal sites, and SMTP ports, are refused by the gateway by design.

## Where is the account API?

The [API documentation](https://eurocityproxies.com/docs/api/) covers your account, top-ups, orders, residential usage and API keys, with curl, Python and Node.js examples. City values for each country come from `GET /v1/catalog/countries/{CC}/cities` (upper-case code in the path).

API keys can be revoked at any time from the dashboard. Username and password on every plan, or an IP allowlist (up to 10 IPs). Sub-users with their own credentials and traffic cap. API keys you can revoke at any time.

## Docs: FAQ

### Which port should I use in a browser?

Port 7777. Chrome and Firefox do not send a password to a SOCKS5 proxy, so use the HTTP port with your username and password.

### Can I use an IP allowlist instead of a password?

Yes. Username and password on every plan, or an IP allowlist (up to 10 IPs). Sub-users with their own credentials and traffic cap. API keys you can revoke at any time.

### Why do I keep the same IP without a session ID?

Your client probably keeps the connection open. Each new connection gets an IP from the pool, usually a different one; to get a new IP on every request, send one request per connection (turn off keep-alive).

### How is traffic measured?

Usage counts all data sent and received through the proxy (upload and download, headers included). 1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes. Connection attempts that fail before reaching the target are not counted. Outages and incidents are listed on the [status page](https://eurocityproxies.com/status/).
